His Excellency Mathews Mar Pachomios

His Excellency Most Rev. Mathews Mar Pachomios OIC born on December 31, 1963, in Arunnoottimangalam, hails from Kadavil House, Ramamangalam PO. He has received his baptism at Arunnoottimangalam under the Kottayam Diocese and was confirmed at St. Thomas Church, Ramamangalam. His schooling journey included attending LP School in Thammanimattom and Government HS in Poothrikka. He received his Holy Communion at St. James Malankara Catholic Church, Poothrikka.

The commitment to his faith and community is evident through his involvement in the Malankara Syrian Rite, under the Eparchy of Muvattupuzha. He celebrates his patron saint, St. Mathew, on September 21st. 

 

Formation in Bethany

His excellency, embarked on his journey of formation within the Bethany community on December 6, 1979, with his admission in Kottayam. The initial year, 1979-1980, saw him laying the foundation of his spiritual journey in Kottayam.

Transitioning into the Novitiate in 1980-1981, he deepened his commitment to the Bethany Order in Aluva. This period marked a significant phase of introspection and discernment as he delved into the core values and principles of his chosen path.

Continuing his educational pursuits, he underwent the PDC program from 1981 to 1983 at Nalanchira, Mar Ivanios College. This phase provided him with a solid academic grounding while further nurturing his spiritual growth.

Moving forward, the years 1983-1984 were dedicated to Pre-Philosophy studies in Aluva, where he engaged in rigorous intellectual exploration and reflection, preparing him for the philosophical challenges ahead.

From 1984 to 1986, he embarked on his Philosophy studies at JDV Pune, delving into profound philosophical inquiries and expanding his understanding of theological principles. This period at JDV Pune laid the groundwork for his future endeavors and provided him with a robust philosophical framework.

Continuing his theological formation, he pursued his studies from 1986 to 1989 at JDV & BVP Pune. Immersed in theological discourse and spiritual formation, he deepened his understanding of religious doctrine and its practical applications in service to the community.

His journey through the various stages of formation within the Bethany Order exemplifies his unwavering dedication, intellectual curiosity, and spiritual commitment. Each phase equipped him with the necessary tools and insights to fulfill his calling as a servant of God within the Bethany community.
